A dual band transceiver with Maritime VHF channels will give the operator the advantage of combining two radios in one, reducing the number of radios external crew members need to carry and thus increase safety and comfort through reduced complexity and weight.

Grimstad, Norway, April 12, 2011: Axnes Aviation is releasing an upgrade to their existing Polycon MP20 Wireless Transceiver, the portable part of the Polycon Wireless Intercom Extension System. The MP20 Dual Band Wireless Transceiver now also features a Maritime VHF radio component in addition to the UHF radio used for communication to the aircraft intercom. The Maritime VHF will provide a backup communication channel in the case an external crew member should want to communicate directly with a vessel, or as a backup communication if the aircraft for any reason needs to relocate out of range for the external crew member.

Norsk Luftambulanse AS (The Norwegian Air Ambulance AS) has ordered Polycon Wireless Intercom Extension systems for their entire EMS fleet of helicopters on behalf of the National Air Ambulance Service of Norway. The systems will be installed in the company’s ten EC135s and one EC 145, as well as in the mother company, The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation’s one EC135 throughout 2011 as the helicopters are brought in for servicing.

The installation is engineered by Heli-One, world’s largest provider of third-party helicopter maintenance and a member of the CHC Helicopter group. This certification is classified as a “minor” modification under their EASA Part 21 J approval (EASEA GM 21A.91), and will include design verification testing, non-ingression verification, antenna radiation pattern and crosstalk prevention as well as mechanical and structural systems assessments. No STC will be needed.

In a comment to the background for obtaining the Polycon Systems for their helicopter fleet, The Norwegian Air Ambulance Fleet Manager, Mr. Lasse Dahl, says: “It has long been a request from our EMS personnel to be able to communicate as if they were all in the helicopter also when operating outside of the aircraft during a rescue missions. Through tests, Polycon has proven to us that it will provide our operative units this ability, even over longer distances and under difficult environmental conditions. We see that the Polycon system will improve safety and efficiency in our daily operations.”

Miramar, FL – February 24, 2011: Becker Avionics and Axnes Aviation AS have signed a teaming agreement to work together on sales and marketing, as well as product support services for the Axnes Polycon Wireless Intercom System.

Becker Avionics Inc. in Miramar Florida will be responsible to market the Axnes Aviation Wireless Intercom product line to North America, South America, including military, governmental and civil customers. In addition, Becker Avionics will act as the service and repair center for the Polycon product in the assigned territory’s.
